Ranking System Update
February 20, 2007; Dark Insanity
This news article was retrieved from a former Justice Strike Force website; as such, it may not contain active links or current, applicable information.

This is a reminder of how the Justice Strike Force's ranking system works, as it has been a while since the JSF's ranking system was officially talked about and clarified.

The ranking system is both Prestige and security level based; as in, to be promoted to a higher rank, you must have earned a certain amount of Prestige, as well as reached a certain level. However, lately, the requirements for some ranks have been taken very lightly, and some people have been promoted before meeting the official requirements simply for being very diligent, or loyal to the Justice Strike Force. But, for general use, the ranks and requirements are as follows:
  • Recruit

The rank of Recruit is the first rank of the Justice Strike Force's system, and thus the first rank you have when you join. Originally, to join the JSF you had to be level 6 or higher, but pretty much anyone who wants to join is allowed to. As a recruit, you are only able to invite other members into the JSF, add to base storage, and use coalition chat.

  • Lieutenant

To be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, the second rank of the JSF's system, you must have earned at least 20,000 Prestige, as well as have reached security level 14. It is also highly suggested you have created an account on the Justice Strike Force website by this level. With the rank of Lieutenant comes the ability to remove items from base storage for your own use, such as enhancements or inspirations. However, make sure you are following the base storage guidelines, as discussed in last week's base article.

  • Captain

To be promoted to the rank of Captain, you must have earned at least 60,000 Prestige, have reached security level 25, and have created an account on the JSF's website. The rank of Captain marks the first rank to require the website account, and checking the website every once in a while shows your dedication to the JSF enough to allow you to be promoted.

  • Commander

The highest rank most members are ever promoted to is the rank of Commander. To become a Commander, you must have earned at least 120,000 Prestige, as well as reached security level 32. The rank of commander also marks great dedication to the Justice Strike Force, and allows you to be consider one of the JSF's Officers, as someone lower ranking members can look to for guidance and knowledge.
The highest rank, Leader, is made of only the most loyal and dedicated of the Justice Strike Force's members. There are only ever a maximum of three Leaders at a time, and if one Leader ever has to leave the world of Paragon City, there is a high chance someone else (one of the more dedicated of the Commanders) would take his place. The Leaders are the only ones with the ability to edit the JSF's base, website, and pretty much everything else about the supergroup.

Well, there you have it. All the ranks of the Justice Strike Force, as well as their requirements and their abilities. Now get out there, and start working toward that next promotion!

Remember to Use Our Base
February 14, 2007; Dark Insanity
This news article was retrieved from a former Justice Strike Force website; as such, it may not contain active links or current, applicable information.

Our base is not just there for looking nifty and showing off to the other supergroups at how great ours is. There are many usable features in the Justice Strike Force's base, including:
  • Eight Telepads, each of which can transport you instantly to two different zones, coming to a total of 16 zones you can be teleported to. There are only 21 zones in Paragon City; this means we link to 80% of all the zones in the game!
  • Reclaimators, which allow you to resurrect and teleport to the base upon being defeated, rather than the nearest hospital.
  • An Auto-Doc, where you can buy health and endurance replenishing inspirations. This can be useful if you were defeated, used the reclaimators to warp to the base, stocked up on inspirations from the Auto-Doc and inspiration storage container, and then teleport right back to the zone where you were!
  • An arcane (magic) empowerment station, which uses your arcane salvage to create personal buffs that last up to one hour! So use your arcane salvage for buffs, then dump off the rest in our salvage bins, which are discussed in further detail below.
  • And finally, we have three types of storage containers: two for holding inspirations, two for holding enhancements, and two for holding salvage. These will be discussed in detail below.
We have two inspiration storage units, placed side-by-side in the workshop, that each hold up to 100 inspirations a piece. Like all the storage units in the base, anyone can add inspirations to the containers, but only members ranked Lieutenant or higher can take them out (Lieutenant, however, is the second to lowest rank, and only requires that you have earned 20,000 prestige or more). Take inspirations out as you need them, but, please, add the ones in that you don't need. Think about it this way: if everyone only took what they wanted and never put in any, would there be any inspirations at all?

We also have two enhancement storage containers, one placed in the workshop, and one in the infirmary. Each of these hold 100 enhancements a piece. Like the inspirations, only Lieutenants can take enhancements out of the units, and anyone can put them in. When taking out enhancements, only take out enhancements that you can use, and do not take them out just to sell them. The base keeps a log of who adds and removes items from each of the storage units (as well as what they add or remove), and anyone found abusing the storage system will either be demoted, or kicked from the Justice Strike Force entirely. Please use the same code as the inspirations when taking out and removing items from this storage unit, as well.

Finally, we have two salvage bins, both placed back-to-back in the workshop, which hold 999 salvage pieces each! However, unlike the enhancements and inspirations, we recommend dropping off your salvage and not taking any out. Right now (before the inventions system is released in Issue 9) salvage is used only for creating base items, and that’s it. While you may want to craft your own base items, only the person who creates the item with their salvage may place them, so you would have to place the item yourself, and it may not necessarily be that good, or our current base setup may not be able to handle that extra item’s control and power needs. Also, if everyone created their own base items, than it would be highly likely that we would end up with multiple copies of the same item, wasting that much more salvage. Because of all these reasons, it is best to simply deposit your salvage in the bins, and then let the leaders use this combined amount of salvage to create larger, better items, and allow them to waste much less salvage, resulting in an even bigger and better base!

When patrolling the streets of Paragon City for evil, remember to stop in the base every once in a while. It can help you get to the scene of the crime faster, or even provide you with the tools you need once you get there!

Base Upgraded and Redone
February 11, 2007; Dark Insanity
This news article was retrieved from a former Justice Strike Force website; as such, it may not contain active links or current, applicable information.

The base has been upgraded! The transportation room was upgraded to the highest level, doubling our amount of telepads from four to eight. Each telepad can link to two zones apiece, so we now have connections to 16 of Paragon City's 21 zones! The design of the room is also notably different, with the return of the awesome conference table! The workshop's design was also redone, and additional inspiration and salvage storage units added (allowing us now to hold up to 200 inspirations and 2000 salvage pieces). Remember to drop off your salvage whenever you can, as those new telepads used quite a bit of it!

You may also notice the base's lighting scheme was changed. This may or may not be temporary, depending on if everyone likes it or not. We're always looking for new ideas!

These upgrades and modifications have left us with about 850,000 prestige, which, while is still quite a bit, isn't all that much for some of the larger upgrades we can do. Our next goal should be for about 1.6 million prestige, so we can upgrade the total size of our base plot. With the new transport room, we have now completely maxed out our current plot size. Play in supergroup mode as much as possible, everyone!

As for website changes, you may notice that a new roster format has been added to the Roster page. This new format allows leaders to update the roster themselves, rather than having to wait for the members to create accounts and add their characters to the list. However, the old roster is still in place for everyone who has created an account, so anyone who wants to add their character's biography or description can still do so! A "Joining the JSF!" page is still in the works, as well as an updated base page, and a refresh of the forums. Make sure to look for more updates in the coming weeks!

Website, Base, and JSF Overhaul
February 7, 2007; Dark Insanity
This news article was retrieved from a former Justice Strike Force website; as such, it may not contain active links or current, applicable information.

As you can see from the many changes being made to the Justice Strike Force website here on GuildPortal, I've decided that our site needed a new design.

Among the current changes are the new window format, with the nifty blue backgrounds behind everything, a general rearranging of information on the Home Page, and the addition of the cool ClustrMaps powered Visitor Locations image down there in the bottom right of the Home Page; it tracks the general location of everyone who visits the site, and plots them as a small dot on a map. The larger the dot, the more visits from that area (though it could very well be the same person visiting the pages hundreds of times). Really cool.

You may also notice the removal of the group picture as the banner at the top of the page, replaced with a Justice Strike Force banner. This is for two reasons: One, the SG picture was way out of date, and, two, I'm looking for something more stable to use as our site's banner, so what you see now if kind of a temporary thing. The blank black background is also temporary, until I can find something that looks cool, and works well with whatever our new banner will be. Right now I'm thinking of some kind of Flash or .GIF animation, which would be wicked awesome.

Future layout updates include finishing (well, starting, then finishing) the "Join the JSF!" tab you see up there on the navigation bar, as well as redoing the forum layout, and adding in a more stable Roster that the leaders can update on their own, so anyone can view an updated list of the Justice Strike Force members without having to wait for the members themselves to log on and update it with their new information. I'll also work on updating the Base information with new pictures and descriptions. Also, on a related note about the base, we are a mere 500,000 Prestige away from having both a base plot size upgrade, and expanding the size of our transportation room (allowing us to place up to 20 teleport beacons... and there are 21 zones, meaning we'll only have one zone left out!).

I'm also considering investing in turning the JSF's website into a "premier" guild on GuildPortal, meaning we'd have more space to work with, increased forum size, be allowed to upload our images to GuildPortal itself, and just generally more freedom to work with on the site. I'm also looking in to getting a TeamSpeak or Ventrillo server (for those of who don't know, TS and Vent are both chat programs that allow their users to talk to each other over headsets on their computers).

Once we get the website up to working order, I also plan on going on a major recruitment spree to bring in many fresh faces into the Justice Strike Force, as well as starting back up SG events. Is it just me who misses the days of Saturday Siren's Call Patrols? I bet some of you don't even remember them... its been quite a while.

Thanks to all of those who have stuck with the Justice Strike Force for what seems like the longest time, as well as those of you who have joined recently. And any of you who are reading this and thinking about joining, please feel free to contact any of our three leaders for more information about the JSF, or if you would like to join in on an SG just before it takes off!

Paragon City, get ready for the new look of the Justice Strike Force!
